On April 30, the Maker Improvement Proposals (MIPs) Timing Poll concluded. The poll resulted in the Maker community determining that it would proceed on May 1 (today) with a vote to officially ratify the 13 Initial MIPs and 2 Subproposals. The vote will result in either the ratification or rejection of the 13 Initial MIPs and 2 Subproposals—the MIP Editor Onboarding Subproposal and the Smart Contracts Domain Team Onboarding Subproposal.

MKR holders are urged to participate in the executive vote to signal their support.

Next Steps

If the Ratification Vote passes, the MIPs will be officially ratified and marked as “Accepted,” and the first Governance Cycle will begin on May 4. The beginning of the Governance Cycle also signals the start of the Formal Submission period for MIPs and Subproposals (May 4-6).

If the Ratification Vote does not pass, the MIPs and Subproposals can be reintroduced once the issues that resulted in the rejection have been addressed. The issues would be discussed in the Maker Forum and on the Governance and Risk calls, and the community would have the opportunity to draft alternative versions of the initially proposed MIPs.  If alternative versions are proposed, the new and revised MIPs and Subproposals would be introduced through two governance polls, which would determine which proposals make it into the final MIP Sets and whether or not the MIPs and Subproposals will move on to a Ratification Vote.
