The Maker Foundation Development Grants Program Sunsets
March 23, 2021
MakerDAO and Request Network are thrilled to announce a strategic partnership that will integrate our stablecoin, Dai, into the financial dApps built on top of the Request Network. In doing so, this partnership continues to push Maker’s vision of unlocking the power of the blockchain to create economic empowerment. Dai will be one of the first five ERC20 tokens supported on the Request Network when ERC20 support officially hits their mainnet this month.
Beginning with Dai, our decentralized stablecoin, Request is enabling future payments on the blockchain to be secure and easy. Price stability on the blockchain is one of the most challenging blockers to widespread adoption of cryptocurrencies. Dai solves this through a fully decentralized stablecoin which has been live and stable since it’s launch.
Request Network Foundation is driving adoption of blockchain by providing a payments framework which allows everyone to develop their own decentralized financial application based on the Request Network technology. They are supporting project grants through the Request Fund. Allowing developers to incorporate Dai into their products will make sure the next generation of financial applications offer stability towards merchants and businesses that adopt blockchain technology. By using the Dai stablecoin as a payment option on the Request Network, anyone can send and receive invoices without ever having to worry about the high degree of volatility in the cryptocurrency market.
The Request Network is a decentralized network that allows anyone, anywhere, to request a payment.
The Request Network offers a wide-ranging platform: from online payments, to invoicing, to audit and accounting, all on a secure, immutable ledger. With it, Request Network provides a variety of resources to begin building financial dApps, incentivizing the growth of a decentralized network for payment requests.
The Request protocol aims to simplify, formalize, and secure financial flows on the blockchain by setting the standards for payments, invoicing, accounting, and auditing in cryptocurrencies. This will enable key functions, such as empowering users to invoice, get paid, and even receive their salary in cryptocurrencies. A core component is that Request makes payment flows secure and more user-friendly, allowing for accounting in real-time on a decentralized ledger. As it stands today, sending cryptocurrencies in its current state is far from easy. With Request, the payer no longer has to be afraid of submitting a wrong recipient address as they doesn’t need to initiate the payment anymore. In the future, this will also critically allow for facilitation of tax management in cryptocurrencies.
The Maker team is looking forward to Dai being integrated this month when Request Network launches on Mainnet, and is excited to collaborate on bringing the next wave of finance to the blockchain.
The Request Network Foundation’s mission is to re-invent how we experience payments, rebuild trust and integrity in the financial industry and be at the forefront of financial inclusion.
We inspire and educate companies, developers and entrepreneurs to use the Request Network protocol and build an ecosystem of financial applications together that is open source, seamless and interoperable in a more global economy. Join the movement!
