The Maker Foundation Meetup Grants Program Comes to an End

April 28, 2021

Today marks the end of the Maker Foundation’s Meetup Grants program. As with the sunsetting of the Development Grants program, this announcement comes as the Foundation continues moving toward dissolution.

The Maker Foundation’s Community Development (Comm-Dev) team launched the Meetup Grants program in February 2019 to educate and engage potential Maker Protocol and Dai users. Grants were paid in Dai, and the meetups varied in content scope and audience size.

Meetup Grants Program Insights

Over the lifespan of the program, events drew approximately 6,000 attendees. Moreover, the program met its aim of creating and educating new community members in financially underserved areas. The top three countries with the highest number of grants and corresponding meetups were Ghana, Uganda, and Nigeria.

The Comm-Dev team is proud of the efforts made by grantees who became interested in Maker and Dai and strove to lower barriers to financial equality in their respective communities.
