Recap: MakerDAO in Prague for DevCon

November 8, 2018

We had a whirlwind of a week in Prague, where we saw so much love for Ethereum and the Maker project. A huge thank you to our community for the tremendous support throughout this rewarding journey to bring forward a decentralized future for finance.

Devcon was inspiring. It was fantastic to see so many passionate people working on innovative projects and sharing thoughtful research. From a Maker perspective, CTO Andy Milenius gave a moving talk about the possibilities for financial reform through decentralization and the important aspects of this evolution. Additionally, the Formal Verification workshop was a success, with many coming to learn more about Maker’s smart contracts.

Before Devcon, Maker sponsored the Status #cryptolife hackathon… it was a huge success! Head of Oracles Mariano Conti and developer Ethan Bennett ran talks and workshops. More than half the total teams submitted a project that integrated Dai. Learn more about the winners of Maker prizes here.

DeFi lives on in Prague! We’re proud to continue to support critical conversations on decentralized finance. Here, we gave several talks, covering topics like synthetic assets, the future of oracles and more.

Blockchain for Good covered some very important topics about the future of how blockchain technology will enable positive reform. The event was hosted by Alice, a platform bringing transparency to social funding through blockchain technology. Rune gave a keynote and made a donation of 1000 Dai!

PARTIES & MORE

RaveCon was a total blast — it’s not often you can host a techno party in an abandoned warehouse.

Yo Ho Ho! Dappy Hour aboard the Pirate Ship was a hit! You can’t beat 1 DAI drinks! We donated well over 500 DAI from the event to Blockchain Education Network, to help engage and educate the public about blockchain.

Thanks to everyone who joined us for the last night of Devcon at the Tower Party! Here we hosted Dai drinks and a raffle, where the first branded Maker Ledger was given away.

Thank you for a wonderful time in Prague!
